📝 Ingredients
- 6–8 sweet peppers (red or yellow)
- 500 g (1 lb) ground beef or pork
- 1/2 cup rice (uncooked)
- 1 small onion (finely chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp paprika (Hungarian sweet paprika if possible)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp oil
🍳 Instructions
- Prepare the filling
In a bowl, mix ground meat, rice, onion, garlic, egg, paprika, salt, and pepper. - Stuff the peppers
Cut off the tops and remove seeds. Fill each pepper with the meat mixture.
If you have leftover mixture, form small meatballs (just like in the image). - Prepare the sauce
Heat oil in a pot, add tomato sauce and a little water. Stir in sugar, salt, and pepper. - Cook
Place stuffed peppers and meatballs into the sauce.
Cover and simmer on low heat for about 45–60 minutes until the rice and meat are fully cooked. - Serve
Serve hot with bread or mashed potatoes.
